Ambition 2035 Summit

The York Central team was invited to participate in the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Ambition 2035 Summit. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet with representatives from business, public sector and academia from across our great region.

Emma Lindsell, regional economic growth advisor to York Central, joined an expert panel discussing the housing and infrastructure opportunities that exist across York and North Yorkshire and explored how we can collectively unlock these to secure a more inclusive, resilient and prosperous future for all our local communities.

Thanks to Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, David Skaith and the team at the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority for inviting us to take part, it was an inspiring event and one that really showcased how York and North Yorkshire is ready for growth to benefit the region and beyond.

Leeds Society of Architects 4×4 Series

York Central’s Development Director Karen Stafeckis joined a sterling line up of speakers taking part in the final week of the ever-popular 4×4 Series from Leeds Society of Architects.

A really interesting evening of engaging discussion, thoughtful questions and brilliant energy was generated from four insightful presentations on the night.

Karen provided an overview of York Central, highlighting the scale, ambition and collaborative vision behind one of the UK’s most transformative regeneration schemes. The Q&A session which followed proved enthusiastic and overwhelmingly positive too.

Clifford Stead, gave a fascinating insight into how Leeds recognises legacy, quality and civic pride in the city. Christian Male from SimpsonHaugh explored design ambition, urban presence and the evolving architectural identity of Leeds city centre and Compass Live Art showcased work which looked at art, place and community through socially engaged practice.

Urban Land Institute Annual Conference

With York Central forming an important part of the UK’s regeneration landscape, we had the privilege of being invited to join the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Annual Conference in London.

At an ‘Investing in Legacy’ panel session, which focussed on some of the UK’s key regeneration projects, Tom Gilman from McLaren Regeneration talked about the world class ambitions for York Central, alongside Lloyd Lee, Managing Partner and Co-Founder at Yoo Capital who gave an overview of Olympia and what building legacy means.

The discussions centred around the vision for major urban development schemes, exploring how investment and resilience are addressed and how lasting legacy is built in, as well as how lessons can be learned for future developments, in line with the ULI’s mission to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide.

Packed with industry leaders and policy makers dedicated to creating better places, all committed to the best in land use policy and practice, it was an excellent opportunity to share our ideas and experience about York Central as part of the conversation.

York Design Awards

York Central’s Tom Gilman, returned to his old school as the keynote speaker at the launch of the 2026 York Design Awards.

The awards have a long-standing role in celebrating the very best of design and placemaking in the city. Tom presented an update on the latest progress at York Central and outlined the core principles and ambitions of the project, to an enthusiastic and engaged audience.
