Engineers and Philosophers Engage with York Central
In April, as part of our on-going community engagement, York Central's Construction Director Rob Auld presented to 258 guests at as part of the York Society of Engineers monthly lecture series.
Organised jointly with Yorkshire Philosophical Society, the packed event took place at Tempest Anderson Hall, in York Museum Gardens and attracted an enthusiastic audience of engineers and philosophers from around the region.
As construction director for McLaren Property, Living and Regeneration, Rob is responsible for the delivery of York Central meaning he was perfectly placed to offer the audience a comprehensive overview of what is one of the UK’s largest regenerations schemes.
Covering everything from design, procurement and delivery, through to the operation and management of this incredible project, he was also able to answer several complex questions from a very interested and knowledgeable local audience.
The York Society of Engineers is a not- for-profit voluntary organisation established in 1947 by Albert Crocker to help share knowledge and experience across all the engineering disciplines. You can find out more about the society here.
The Yorkshire Philosophical Society was formed in 1822, when “natural philosopher” was the term used for a scientist. They aim to promote the public understanding of science by providing a programme of lectures for the public and activities for members, as well as awarding grants and prizes to qualifying organisations and students. You can find out more about the society here.
The team was grateful to be invited back to share updates and recent milestones on the project, following a previous presentation given by our partners Homes England in 2023. We look forward to continuing the dialogue as the project develops further.
