Over 160 local people attend York Central drop-in event
In February, more than 160 local people attended the York Central drop-in event held at York’s Guildhall, offering a chance to meet the team and learn more about the regeneration project.
The session provided an opportunity for people to meet the development team behind the York Central and find out more about what is one of the largest regeneration projects in the country.
As joint venture strategic development partners, McLaren Regeneration and Arlington Real Estate hosted the drop-in event at the Guildhall. It was well attended by members of the local community and stakeholders who wanted to find out more about latest progress and next steps for this exciting new city quarter next to the railway station.
The York Central drop-in event served as a space for residents and stakeholders to hear directly from developers.
This was the first in an extensive series of community events being organised and followed several other engagement activities they have undertaken we were formally appointment in April 2024
Feedback from the York Central drop-in event will help inform the next stages of design and engagement.
“We’re very grateful to everyone who attended the session, and we will continue to engage with the community throughout the project. It was a great opportunity to answer questions and explain more about our vision to create a world-class city quarter in York. A series of further engagement events will be held throughout this year as work on details of the plans progress.” - Tom Gilman, Managing Director of McLaren Regeneration
We are working with Homes England and Network Rail Property, as well as key partners including the City of York Council and the National Railway Museum, to deliver this major regeneration project and members of the partnership also joined the event to share information on different elements of the scheme.
A planning application covering the first phase of the masterplan is expected to be submitted to the Council later this year.
